Karen Y Pfeiffer, ASID, CAPS NCIDQ Certificate No. 013111 Karen grew up around the building industry. Even as a small child she would go with her grandfather and father to check on construction sites. She became very interested in the how's and why's of the building process. Architecture and Interior Design became a very strong focus for her. She has a background in art, and construction, with her main focus on Interior Design. Karen and Charley, have been in business for over 30 years. She and Charley started a window treatment business in 1975, which progressed into the overall Interior Design Studio that it is today, which she oversees. While Charley still occasionally assists Karen with Pfeiffer Creative Interiors, he currently works in another construction related business. Once accepted into ASID (American Society of Interior Design) in 1991, Karen then proceeded to study for her National Certification - NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification). She passed the two day examination in 1996, giving her Professional status in the society. Karen continues to take classes and seminars concerning new design concepts, business practices or areas of special interest for Construction or Interior Design. Karen has served on many committees of Interior Design interest, as well as, community service. She was team leader of Arts & Interiors at her church, East 91st Street Christian Church. She has also been committee chairperson for several positions with the Indiana Chapter ASID. She has worked with the legislative group ICID (Indiana Council for Interior Design) for the promotion of the Design Profession. This group has now reorganized into an official Legislative Coalition – SAFE IDC. She was the Indiana Chapter ASID President for the 2001-2002 term, beginning October 1, 2001, finishing September 2002.
